Project Information
-
Section 1: Del Prado Boulevard & Cape Coral Parkway Intersection
The intersection of Del Prado Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway is the westernmost point of the project. This intersection has heavy morning and evening traffic movements and has constrained right-of-way at all four quadrants.
-
Section 2: Bernice Braden Park
This section of the project includes the section of roadway adjacent to the Bernice Braden Park just prior to the approaches to the bridges on the Cape Coral side of the Caloosahatchee River. This is the only portion of the project that will require right-of-way, which will come from the Bernice Braden Park. All efforts will be made to avoid impacts to the Visitor Center.
-
Section 3: Bridges over the Caloosahatchee River
Section 3 includes the Eastbound and Westbound bridges over the Caloosahatchee River. This portion of the project will continue to provide capacity improvements from four to six lanes, which will require either the replacement of the aging structures or widening and rehabilitation of them. The new designs will consider pedestrian and bicycle mobility and connectivity to Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Long-term maintenance and enhanced aesthetic features will be considered during the study phase.
-
Section 4: Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club Drive
Section 4 includes the approaches to the bridges on the Fort Myers side of the Caloosahatchee River. Continuity of the six-lane typical section will be carried off of the bridges all of the way up to McGregor Boulevard. This section has constrained right-of-way and all efforts will be made to avoid impacts to the adjacent properties including the Landings Golf Course. The existing toll plaza is located in this section, which will be replaced by All Electronic Tolling (AET).
-
Section 5: McGregor Boulevard & College Parkway Intersection
The intersection of College Parkway and McGregor Boulevard marks the easternmost point of this project. This intersection is currently operating at a poor level of service with lengthy delay times for all traffic movements. There is also constrained right-of-way that must be accommodated with all improvements considered.
